Sprinkler Fire Extinguishing Systems

Sprinkler Fire Extinguishing Systems are systems that are activated in case of fire and help extinguish the fire with water and chemicals. They are the most used and preferred systems among fire extinguishing systems. By intervening in the fire from above, it ensures rapid extinguishing of the fire and facilitates the work of intervention teams by suppressing the resulting smoke. The area protected by a single sprinkler by emitting water in sprinkler fire extinguishing systems recommended for class A and C fires can vary between 9 m² and 21 m². Sprinkler extinguishing systems work when the heat generated by the fire reaches 68 C°, the sprinkler tips explode and the extinguishing liquid begins to spread around. Different types of sprinkler extinguishing types can be used, taking into account the work area or the materials used in fire risk areas. The most well-known of these are wet pipe, dry pipe, deluge and preaction sprinkler fire extinguishing systems. Wet Pipe Sprinkler Extinguishing Systems Automatic sprinkler system is a system that is connected to a water source and is based on a pipe mechanism containing water. It is activated quickly as the temperature in the area used rises, and the water in the pipes is intensively sprayed onto the fire. Dry Pipe Sprinkler Extinguishing Systems This system is filled with highly pressurized air or nitrogen gas by closing the valve between the water source and the pipe network. Air pressure or nitrogen gas is controlled by a device placed at the mains inlet. The heat released after the fire activates a sprinkler in the fire area and the pressure in the pipe network rapidly decreases. This decrease in pressure causes the valve at the entrance of the dry pipe network to open and fill with water, allowing water to be sprayed from the open sprinkler to the fire area. These systems can be used in low temperature areas where wet pipe systems cannot be used, but areas where the valve part at the entrance of the dry pipe system is heated should not be preferred. Deluge Sprinkler Extinguishing Systems The dominant type sprinkler system is used in areas where the potential for fire spread is expected to be high and rapid, and where it is deemed necessary to apply water flow to all areas where fire may occur and spread. Open type sprinklers are placed in the pipework and application area. Deluge alarm valve detection sensors are activated before the pipes are pressurized with water or air. In High Hazard Class Operation Group 4 regions, protection with deluge systems is generally preferred. Preaction Sprinkler Extinguishing Systems In Pre-action Sprinkler Systems; There is compressed air or nitrogen in the pipes. After the sprinkler head becomes active, the compressed air or nitrogen in the pipes is first discharged to the fire area, and in addition to the explosion of the sprinkler heads for water flow, the fire detection system must be activated and the accuracy of the alarm information must be confirmed.
